Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with Sky News that the end of the Ukrainian crisis is possible only if the head of the White House, Donald Trump, takes a “clear position” on security guarantees for Ukraine and anti-Russian sanctions.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the only way to end the armed conflict is to provide Ukraine with clear security guarantees.
Zelenskyy hopes that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will discuss these issues with Donald Trump during the American leader’s state visit to the UK this week, the publication says.
“I really hope that he [Keir Starmer – ed. He will be able to have a very specific discussion about US security guarantees for Ukraine <…> we need a clear position from President Trump,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He also called on the American leader to take “decisive personal steps” to “stop” Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I am sure that the United States can apply enough sanctions to damage the Russian economy, besides, Donald Trump has enough power to make Putin afraid of him. Europe has already imposed 18 sets of sanctions against Russia. And now all that’s missing is a powerful package of sanctions from the United States,” Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, the newspaper Público wrote that Donald Trump is gradually losing interest in the Ukrainian conflict, focusing on economic benefits.
