China has threatened a “resolute” response if NATO countries impose tariffs on Russian oil

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that Beijing would take “resolute” measures against NATO countries if they imposed tariffs on Russian oil purchases under US influence.

“If China’s legitimate rights and interests are harmed, China will take decisive countermeasures and unwaveringly protect its sovereignty, security, and development interests,” Lin Jian said at the briefing.

According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the actions of the United States are “a typical example of unilateral intimidation and economic coercion.”

Lin Jian emphasized that China’s trade, economic, and energy cooperation with countries around the world, including Russia, is legitimate and should not be criticized.

Earlier, China imposed anti-dumping duties on certain fiber-optic products imported from the United States.
