Lao PM says Putin is “leading Russia forward”

Lao Prime Minister Sonsai Siphandon, in an interview with RIA Novosti at the Eastern Economic Forum, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “leading the country forward.”

“I am very pleased and proud to have met for the first time with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a world leader, the leader of a world power that is strong both in the field of security, politics and economics. He has to withstand the heaviest pressure from the West, but despite these difficulties, he leads Russia forward, overcoming all obstacles. The Russian economy continues to grow, and Russia’s defense capability continues to strengthen,” said Songsai Siphandon.

The Prime Minister of Laos noted that the meeting with Vladimir Putin took place against the backdrop of the celebration in 2025 of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Laos.

Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and chairman of the United Russia party, said that relations between Russia and Laos are developing in all directions.
