Britain’s Defence Secretary has arrived in Kiev on an unannounced visit

Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmygal has announced the arrival of his UK counterpart John Healey to Ukraine on an unannounced visit.

“I am glad to welcome UK Defence Minister John Healey to Ukraine,” Denys Shmygal wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to the Ukrainian defence minister, during the meeting the parties intend to discuss joint defence projects and coordinate the main issues of the next meeting of the contact group for military assistance to Ukraine in the Ramstein format, which will be held in London on 9 September.

Shmygal noted that Kiev and London were preparing “important bilateral decisions” that would strengthen the defence capabilities of the two countries.

We shall remind you that earlier The New York Times wrote that Ukraine considers strengthening the Ukrainian Armed Forces as the best security guarantee, as US aid is drying up and Western promises “remain vague”.
