The European Union is considering the possibility of introducing secondary restrictive measures against Russia along the lines of the United States, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said.
“We are working on a new package of measures, and there are several options on the table. Of course, they [Russia – ed.] will be hit hardest by any sanctions against the energy sector and secondary sanctions, which, for example, the Americans have introduced,” Kaja Kallas told reporters ahead of an informal meeting of EU defence ministers in Copenhagen.
In parallel, the EU is considering options for imposing financial restrictions against Russia, “which seriously impede access to capital.”
We will remind, earlier in Politico wrote that the EU is trying to force Hungary and Slovakia to support the 19th package of sanctions against Russia.
