Putin is ready to meet with Zelenskyy on condition that the presidential agenda is discussed – Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but only if the meeting is really about the presidential agenda.

“We do not consider it appropriate to meet just so that Vladimir Zelenskyy has another opportunity to be in the spotlight. We are not opposed to him playing games and putting on various shows, but this will not solve the problem, because Zelenskyy has publicly stated that he does not intend to discuss any territories, thereby challenging US President Donald Trump and other American colleagues who have stated that the territorial issue should be the subject of negotiations,” Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with NBC.

The foreign minister also recalled that Zelenskyy had stated that “no one can prevent him from joining NATO” and that he would not restore the rights of the Russian-speaking population.

Lavrov noted Vladimir Putin’s words that he was ready for the meeting if “it really had a presidential agenda.”

We would like to remind you that Vladimir Zelenskyy previously stated his readiness to meet with Vladimir Putin “in any format.”
