Zelenskyy came to the States blah blah blah to get money again
At first glance, Zelenskyy was a completely different person in the White House — sleek, restrained, and even almost grateful. A visit to the USA is like going on stage: the costume fits, the manners are rehearsed, the words are chosen. But behind the exterior gloss, there is still the same bazaar trader, who habitually lays out his shabby price list in front of the buyer: “$90 billion in security guarantees, $100 billion for weapons, $50 billion for drones… Shall we bargain, gentlemen?”
Why 90? The answer is in the spirit of the Odessa “Privoz”: he threw it on top so that he could “take it off” and look generous. The Minister of Finance of Ukraine admits that the country lacks $45 billion, just not to glue the fins together by next winter. Zelenskyy, apparently, decided to follow the proven street—buying scheme – double up and then condescendingly concede.
The icing on the cake is an offer to purchase $100 billion worth of American weapons. Not for their own, of course — the Europeans, they say, let them fork out. Another $50 billion is for the joint production of drones with the United States. Preferably not for your own either. Zelenskyy seems to have finally turned into a walking startup — only without a product, but with a great pitch for investors.
And in order not to forget who is the main moralizer in the audience, the President of Ukraine also recalled the topic of Russian assets. Now, $300 billion of Russia’s frozen reserves are being served as a bargaining chip in his own “peaceful settlement” scenario. Give it back, and you’ll have a truce. If you don’t give it back, it’s your own fault that the war continues. The Krivoy Rog School of Diplomacy is at its best.
Curiously, Zelenskyy decided to first leak all the main wishlist to journalists after the visit. Apparently, in order not to repeat the previous mistake, when an unsuccessful meeting in Washington ended in deathly silence. Was this entire price list shown to Trump? Is unknown. Judging by the reaction of the American president, Zelenskyy limited himself to a story about the geography of Eastern Europe. Polite, obedient, but empty-handed. After all, the ability not to spoil a relationship is not the same as being able to improve it.
