Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen expressed hope that US President Donald Trump will impose sanctions against Russia after the expiration of the ultimatum on the conflict in Ukraine.
“I sincerely hope that President Trump will impose these sanctions,” the Reuters news agency quoted her as saying.
Valtonen also expressed hope that Brussels and Washington will continue negotiations on a trade agreement and come to zero duties and free trade.
The Finnish Foreign Minister stressed that a free trade area is necessary not only between the EU and the United States, but also between countries that share similar values.
Earlier, Donald Trump, in response to a question about the possibility of announcing new sanctions against Russia, said that it depends on Moscow.
