The European Union cannot agree on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia due to objections from Malta. Politico writes about this.
“A new obstacle has arisen [to coordinate anti–Russian sanctions – ed.] — Malta,” the publication says.
Politico, citing a diplomat from the European Union, wrote that during a meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Council of the EU on July 13 this year, Malta objected to the European Commission’s proposal to set a ceiling price for Russian energy exports at 15% of the market price.
Recall that on July 4 of this year, Slovakia blocked the 18th package of sanctions against Russia at the ambassadorial level.
