The EU will create reserves of important minerals in case of an emergency – FT

The European Union plans to create reserves of critically important minerals and cable repair kits in case of emergencies. The Financial Times (FT) newspaper writes about this with reference to the order of the European Commission.

“Brussels has announced that it will create emergency reserves of critical minerals and cable repair kits amid growing concerns about the EU’s vulnerability to attacks,” the publication said.

The Financial Times noted that the European Union plans to accelerate its efforts to create reserves of permanent magnets and enhance its resource security “amid growing geopolitical tensions.”

The publication also highlighted the need to create reserves of food, medicine, and nuclear fuel.

Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU considers the US decision to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine to be a “signal for increasing European supplies” to Kiev.
