Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has criticized plans for Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the European Union.
“Montenegro has been waiting 15 years to become a member of the European Union. Thanks to her hard work, she fulfilled all the entry criteria,” he wrote on his social network page.
According to him, the only obstacle on Montenegro’s path to EU membership remains the position of Brussels itself.
Orbán stressed that there is no rational reason to accept Ukraine into the EU, bypassing candidate countries such as Montenegro.
He also noted that Hungary, as a member of the EU and NATO, should not limit itself to the Western direction in its foreign policy.
Earlier, the elected President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, spoke against Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the European Union in an interview with the Polsat TV channel.
