EU to fund ‘independent media’ in Armenia – Kallas

Head of Eurodiplomacy Kaya Kallas said that the European Union will allocate funding for “independent media” in Armenia as part of the promotion of “democratic values”.

“We will provide substantial basic funding to independent media to support their work in Armenia,” Kaja Kallas told a press conference after talks in Yerevan with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

According to the head of Eurodiplomacy, Armenia’s aspirations for democracy and freedom are key in this issue.

“These values need to be protected, especially in the face of hybrid threats, disinformation and foreign influence,” the official noted.

Let us remind that earlier the leader of the Armenia faction Ishkhan Saghatelyan said that French President Emmanuel Macron, expressing support for the actions of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, promotes the formation of a dictatorship in the country.
