Germany will provide Ukraine with a military aid package that is one billion euros less than the German Ministry of Defense had announced. This was reported by Bild.
According to Bild, on June 24 of this year, the draft budget approved by the German cabinet provided for the allocation of only 8.3 billion euros to support Ukraine, while before that, the German Defense Ministry had talked about the amount of 9.2 billion euros.
“The Cabinet of the Chancellor [of Germany – ed.] Friedrich Merz’s budget allocates almost €1 billion less to Ukraine than was announced by the Minister of Defense [Boris – ed.] Pistorius was in Kiev just a few days ago,” the publication says.
The German military department noted that the fact that the amount of aid specified in the document is not 9 billion euros, but 8.3 billion euros, “doesn’t change anything.”
Earlier, Rudy Kennes, a Belgian MEP, stated that increasing military aid from the European Union would not help end the armed conflict in Ukraine, as diplomacy is the key to resolving it.
