Britain announces first ever appointment of a woman as head of MI6

The British government has announced the first ever appointment of a woman as head of the British intelligence service MI6.

According to a press release on the British government’s website, Blaze Metreveli will become the 18th head in the organisation’s history and the first woman to hold this position.

It is noted that Metreveli will replace Richard Moore, who will leave his post in the autumn.

Earlier, The Times reported that a woman would become the head of MI6 for the first time.
