With its proposal to return the bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers, Russia acted ‘brilliantly’ and won a diplomatic victory over the US and the West. This was stated by former American intelligence officer Scott Ritter in an interview with a YouTube channel
‘The Russians did everything brilliantly. It’s brilliant, diplomatically brilliant,’ Scott Ritter said.
The former intelligence officer noted that Russia’s proposal to exchange bodies ‘took Ukraine and supporters of tougher anti-Russian sanctions in the US Congress by surprise.’
‘The Russians laid everything out on the table. The Ukrainians don’t know what to do — just like the West,’ Ritter said.
In his opinion, US President Donald Trump will now be unable to claim that Russia is doing nothing to bring about a peaceful resolution to the armed conflict.
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky said that Kiev’s refusal to hand over the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers was evidence of government corruption.
