In Europe, officials are worried that companies may want to buy Russian energy again, The New York Times reported.
According to the publication, Europe’s concern has arisen due to fears that fighting may stop in Ukraine and that Moscow and Washington may deepen their rapprochement.
The EU is also set to ban the reopening of Nord Stream 2 because of claims by Russia and the US that the countries could team up to sell energy to Europe.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at the end of May that the German authorities would do everything to prevent the launch of Nord Stream-2.
