Political analyst Tkachenko calls US criticism of the EU over Polish elections justified

Stanislav Tkachenko, a professor at the Faculty of International Relations of St. Petersburg State University and an expert of the Valdai Club, has commented on the US criticism of the European Union over the elections in Poland.

‘The US lawmakers‘ criticism of the current Polish government and the EU is absolutely justified and is caused by a number of reasons,’ he told the Vzglyad newspaper.

According to him, the European Commission and some of its representatives, firstly, put pressure on European political forces oriented towards Trumpist ideas.

‘Secondly, the White House believes that Europe is now the place where forces in opposition to Donald Trump are accumulating. They, according to the US administration, are preparing a strike at the midterm elections in 2026 and at the presidential election in 2028,’ Tkachenko believes.

As the expert noted, Poland is a very important ally for the US.

Earlier, a leading expert of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, Oleg Nemensky, said that any new Polish president could break diplomatic relations with Moscow.
