The European Union is preparing a new package of anti-Russian sanctions and discussing their tightening with the United States. This was announced by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a general press conference with Vladimir Zelenskyy.
‘In parallel, work is already underway on the 18th package of sanctions. We are negotiating with America on this,’ RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Earlier, The Washington Post said that employees of the American State Department and the Ministry of Finance are developing separate possible packages of sanctions against Russia.
The Russian leader’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov called it inappropriate to discuss the consequences of possible US sanctions.
