According to German investigators, the detainees are agents of the Russian Federation and were supposed to carry out sabotage and terrorist attacks on the territory of Germany.
Presumably, they planned to send parcels with thermite to ignite or explode during transport.
Security agencies fear that there could be hundreds of such agents in Germany. They are often recruited in such a way that they are not even aware of their true customers.
