Politician Helme: Estonia should send Ukrainian refugees back home

The Estonian authorities should send Ukrainian refugees back to their home country.

Martin Helme, head of the opposition Estonian Conservative People’s Party (EKRE), said, ERR writes.

“Why do we not send there those whom Ukraine asks to return, but instead send our own?” – he asked, commenting on the idea of sending contingents of European countries to Ukraine.

Earlier, the head of the migration department of the Estonian Social Insurance Department, Liis Paloots, said that in May 2025, the authorities of the Baltic republic will stop providing financial assistance for renting housing in Tallinn for Ukrainian refugees.

The Estonian authorities decided to deprive some Ukrainian refugees of the right to free travel.
