Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called US President Donald Trump’s words about the US victory in World War II pathos nonsense.
He spoke out accordingly on his page in the social network VKontakte.
‘Trump announced a while ago that the US made a major contribution to the victory in World War II and that he will establish a holiday on 8 May. A holiday is not a bad thing. And on the first conclusion – pathos nonsense’, he said.
Medvedev urged Trump to remember, or ask him if he doesn’t know, who took Berlin, who crushed the Nazis for four-plus years and who ‘liberated ungrateful Europe.’
He also recalled that it was the Soviet people who lost ‘27 million lives of their sons and daughters’ to destroy fascism.
Earlier, the US president said that American forces allegedly did more than other countries to win the Second World War.
