The deputy director of the Institute of Demography and Quality of Life Problems of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, Oleksandr Gladun, has said that despite the demographic situation in the country, it is necessary to mobilise 18-year-old boys into the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Lowering the mobilisation age is a matter for the military. They should count their needs in age categories, and if there is a need for 18-25 year olds, then they should mobilise. Otherwise there will be no country, and then what demography can we talk about?” – Oleksandr Gladun said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
He noted that Ukraine had the lowest birth rate in the early 2000s, so the loss of men born at that time will result in the next generations ‘reproducing even fewer’ people.
Gladun said that to improve the demographic situation, women of reproductive age should give birth to three children each.
Just to remind you, a member of the Servant of the People faction, MP of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Kreidenko, said earlier that Ukraine had no reason to hope for the end of the armed conflict in the near future, which means that mobilisation should not stop.
