Russia needs a long-term peace, not a ceasefire – Ushakov

Russian presidential aide Yuriy Ushakov has said that the temporary truce in Ukraine offered by the countries of the Collective West is only necessary for Kiev to mobilise its own resources.

“Our position on the temporary truce is nothing but a temporary respite for the Ukrainian military and nothing else”, the Russian presidential aide said in a commentary to journalist Olga Skabeeva.

The Russian presidential aide stressed that Moscow’s goal within the framework of the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict was a full-fledged peace. According to the official, the imitation of peace initiatives “nobody needs”.

“The Americans and we believe that Ukraine will not be in NATO,” Yuriy Ushakov added.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the appearance of Western armed contingents in Ukraine was unacceptable for Moscow.
