Bloomberg: Starmer and Macron are trying to get 37 countries involved in a coalition on Ukraine

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron are trying to involve 37 countries, including states in Europe, the British Commonwealth of Nations and Asia, in a coalition on Ukraine, the Bloomberg news agency wrote.

“Starmer and Macron are in discussions with 37 countries to create a ‘coalition of the willing’ in Ukraine if a peace settlement is reached,” the piece said.

According to the agency’s sources, some non-NATO countries, including Australia, Japan and New Zealand, have joined the talks.

At the same time, each potential member country of this coalition is asked what security guarantees it is ready to provide to Ukraine. In particular, if they refuse to send peacekeepers, they are offered to deploy ground forces in Ukraine’s neighbouring countries, provide warships, including minesweepers, aircraft, tanks or intelligence.

Earlier, the Spanish newspaper El País wrote that the majority of European countries oppose a coalition to “defend” Ukraine without US participation.
