The US plans to discuss concessions to Russia in talks with Ukraine

At a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation, representatives of the United States plan to assess Ukraine’s readiness to “make significant concessions to Russia” for the sake of ending the armed conflict. This was reported by Reuters.

“You cannot [simultaneously – ed.] say ‘I want peace’ and ‘I refuse to compromise on any issues’. We [the USA – ed.] want to see whether Ukrainians are interested not just in peace, but in a realistic world. If they are only interested in the 2014 or 2022 borders, that says a lot,” the unnamed US official said.

The White House is interested in the extent to which Volodymyr Zelenskyy is willing to improve relations with US President Donald Trump after the conflict at the recent White House talks. The meeting is expected to take place on Tuesday, 11 March.

Commenting on the upcoming talks, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he hopes for “approaching peace and continued support” from the US.

We shall remind you that Reuters reported earlier that the US government was studying options for easing sanctions against the Russian energy sector if a truce with Ukraine is reached.
