Russian delegation held talks in Damascus with the head of the Syrian administration

A Russian interdepartmental delegation held talks in Damascus with the head of the Syrian administration Ahmed al-Sharaa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said.

‘The meeting went well on the whole. It lasted three hours, including an official lunch. <…> The meeting as a whole was constructive, there was a good atmosphere. But we realise how difficult the situation [in the country – ed.] is,’ Mikhail Bogdanov said.

He also emphasised that the meeting was held in a ‘traditionally friendly atmosphere’, and according to the results of the negotiations there are no changes in the Russian presence in Syria.

Earlier, the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet reported that the Armed Forces of Turkey and Syria would conduct a large-scale military operation against members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party if the West put forward “new demands”.
