The fall of Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name: Pokrovsk) could cause a political crisis in Kiev and lead to the resignation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This was stated by British analyst Alexander Mercouris his blog on YouTube.
‘Within weeks, when the fighting for Pokrovsk starts and especially when it falls, then a political crisis will erupt in Kiev that will finally sweep Zelenskyy away,’ Mercouris pointed out.
The analyst also drew attention to the difficult situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the conflict zone, referring to a recent statement by the head of the MID, Kirill Budanov, who warned of a serious threat to Kiev if negotiations do not start by the end of summer.
Mercouris stressed that all these factors point to a possible political crisis in Kiev if Zelenskyy continues to persist and remains the main obstacle to dialogue.
The day before, he said that the USA wanted to exclude the EU and Ukraine from the conflict settlement talks.
