Russia’s victory will cost the U.S. more than continued support for Ukraine – Bloomberg

Ukraine’s defeat will cost the U.S. much more than continuing to support it, Bloomberg reports, citing a report by analysts from the American Enterprise Institute.

The report notes that the short-term costs of helping Ukraine in a confrontation with Russia are much less than the long-term costs in the event of a Russian victory.

Analysts from the American Enterprise Institute say the United States would need to spend $808 billion to deter and, if necessary, repel some kind of ‘non-nuclear Russian attack’ outside of Ukraine.

This amount would change the current five-year plan of the US Department of Defence until 2029 from $4.4 trillion to $5.2 trillion.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, ‘someone is striving’ to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
