Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and spokesman for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has denied rumours of possible gas supplies to Europe via Syria and Turkey.

‘We have all seen the speculation in the media about this gas pipeline, it is nothing but media speculation,’ he said, responding to a question about the prospects of building a gas pipeline to Turkey through the territory of Syria to supply gas to Europe.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign and Foreign Economic Relations Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Ukraine’s termination of Russian gas transit led to a 20 per cent rise in fuel prices in Europe.
