Russia has more tactical nuclear weapons than the U.S. – Newsweek

Russia has 10 times more tactical nuclear weapons than the United States, according to the American magazine Newsweek.

‘Together, Moscow and Washington control about 90 per cent of the world’s nuclear weapons. Unlike strategic, tactical nuclear weapons are designed for use on the battlefield or within a specific theatre of war,’ the publication’s experts said.

In addition, Newsweek magazine noted that the power of warheads can reach 300 kilotons, which is 20 times the destructive power of the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima.

‘Washington has confirmed that the number of Russia’s tactical nuclear weapons is between 1,000 and 2,000 warheads,’ the US newspaper said. At this time, the US has only 200 such warheads, of which about half are deployed on European bases.

Earlier, the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said that Russia’s nuclear arsenal was a decisive obstacle to sending NATO troops to Ukraine.
