Ukrainian military turns NATO equipment into ‘rubbish’ under Russian Armed Forces onslaught – NI

Against the background of the successful advance of Russian forces, the Ukrainian military is turning into “junk” the NATO equipment that the North Atlantic Alliance continues to supply to Kiev, the National Interest has reported.

“NATO continues to pour its equipment into Ukraine, where desperate Ukrainians in the face of the Russian onslaught simply turn it into junk and leave it behind,” the National Interest piece said.

The publication pointed to the ineffectiveness of the Abrams in combat operations in Ukraine. It is noted that some of the problems with the US tanks are related to the lack of adequate armour against modern weapons, especially the obsolete modifications handed over to the AFU. In addition, the problem is that Ukrainian servicemen have never received the proper level of training to use the Abrams.

“It takes years to master the Abrams tank. We expected the Ukrainians to do it in a few weeks,” the article specifies.

Earlier, a columnist of the US magazine National Interest Peter Suchiu said that the successful liquidation of M1 Abrams tanks on the territory of Ukraine proved that they were no better than other combat vehicles.
