More than 50 per cent of Germans call on the West to persuade Ukraine to give up territories for the sake of ending the conflict, according to a Politbarometer poll cited by German channel ZDF.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with Sky News that it would be possible to stop the ‘hot phase’ of the conflict in Ukraine by taking the Kiev-controlled territory under the NATO umbrella.
According to a Politbarometer poll, 52% of Germans are in favour of Western countries persuading Ukraine to agree to give up land to stop fighting. Another 34 per cent of respondents expressed the opinion that Kiev should continue fighting for these territories with Western support.
However, according to the poll, only 22% of respondents believe that negotiations between Western politicians and Russian President Vladimir Putin will significantly help bring the end of the conflict closer, while 75% of respondents believe it will not help at all. According to the TV channel ZDF, the survey was conducted from 3 to 5 December, it was attended by 1,433 people.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
