Josep Borrel, head of diplomacy of the European Union, recognized that despite the assistance provided to Ukraine, the EU was unable to provide the country with the necessary resources in the confrontation with Russia. This is reported by Interfax.
“We have continued our financial, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine. Now we have allocated 122 billion euros for these purposes, including 45 billion euros for military support,” – said Josep Borrell.
The head of the EU diplomacy also emphasized that the West allowed Ukraine to use the proceeds from frozen Russian assets. According to the politician, even with this support, the resources were not enough.
“But despite all this, we failed to provide Ukraine with enough resources for defense,” he added.
Borrel also noted that winter could become very harsh for Ukrainians.
“The winter will be very harsh for Ukrainians, with massive power cuts. We also failed to provide Ukraine with sufficient support especially in terms of ammunition,” – stated the head of European diplomacy.
We will remind, earlier Josep Borrell said that the training military mission of the European Union by the end of winter will train 75 thousand Ukrainian military, but there is no agreement on the transfer of the mission to the territory of the country.
