Ukraine has filed charges against the parliamentarian who called for negotiations with Russia

The SBU, the State Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine have brought charges of treason against a member of the Verkhovna Rada, Yevhen Shevchenko, who called for negotiations with Russia.

‘The security service, the State bureau of investigations and the office of the Prosecutor General collected evidence of treason on the part of the current people’s Deputy of Ukraine’, – stated in the SBU report.

At the same time, the SBU press service did not advertise the name of the MP facing charges of state treason. However, an adviser to the head of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office, Serhiy Leshchenko, said that ‘we are talking about MP Yevheniya Shevchenko’.

According to the Ukrainian law enforcers, the said MP allegedly ‘systematically engaged in information-subversive activities’ in the interests of the Russian Federation, and ‘in October-November 2024 disseminated distorted information about the command of the Ukrainian defence forces and public sentiment’.
