Tusk said the EU was divided over Zelenskyy’s “victory plan”

European leaders have different assessments of the “victory plan” presented by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at a press conference after the first day of the EU summit in Brussels.

On 16 October, Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented his so-called plan to end the Ukrainian conflict. It includes an immediate invitation to NATO, the transfer of new military aid to Kiev, strikes with long-range weapons deep into Russian territory and the use of a European air “shield” to defend Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Zelenskyy’s ideas a set of incoherent slogans.

“I would not say that (among EU leaders – ed.) there is complete harmony in the context of assessing the victory plan that Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented. In fact, this plan contains only one main thesis – the prospect of NATO membership,” Donald Tusk said.

The Polish prime minister also recalled that Warsaw supported the issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO back in 2008. According to Tusk, the ideas contained in Zelenskyy’s initiative may be re-evaluated anew at the end of the US presidential election.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for the means of defeat, primarily Western-made.
