Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said that Western politicians who believed in the possibility of defeating Russia should open their history textbooks.
“I recommend everyone who believes in this (victory over Russia. – ed.) to look in the history books. From Napoleon to Hitler – everyone failed because of this,” said the former head of the German government, whose words were quoted by the Welt newspaper.
According to the former German chancellor, achieving a “balance of interests” and conducting a negotiation process is the most prudent scenario for ending the conflict in Eastern Europe.
“This war will have to be ended through negotiations. In any case, it cannot be solved by military means. We will need to reach compromises,” the politician emphasised.
The former head of the German government emphasised that the countries of the Collective West do not attach importance to Russia’s arguments on the issue of national security. In addition, he said, the Western community also does not take into account a possible escalation of the Ukrainian conflict.
“We Germans should behave particularly cautiously and constructively, in light of the history of the Second World War and the crimes committed in the name of Germany”, – stated Gerhard Schroeder.
We will remind, earlier Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that a military victory over Russian Federation is difficult to imagine.
