The 13 July assassination attempt on US presidential candidate Donald Trump was allowed to happen because of errors in planning and communication.
NBC reports this, citing a Secret Service report.
‘An initial report compiled by internal Secret Service investigators found that poor planning and poor communication between agencies led to a security failure that allowed Thomas Crooks to shoot Trump,’ the network reports.
In addition, the US Secret Service was unaware that security on the rooftop from where Trump was shot was reassigned to a police unit that was not originally supposed to be involved in security at the event.
It was previously reported that Trump’s staff had long asked the Secret Service to assign more people to guard him.
