The work on bringing Ukraine’s legislation in line with the EU norms should be completed by the end of 2025, before which a political decision on joining the association cannot be taken. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal.
The Ukrainian prime minister pointed out that the country should be ready to join the EU by the end of 2025 at the latest.
“It is necessary to bring the legislation in line with the EU directives and regulations, these are tens of thousands of documents. There is a large amount of technical work to be done. The political decision will be made by the EU members, but it should be preceded by technical work,” Denys Shmygal said at a press conference.
The politician did not name the expected timeframe for the EU to make a political decision on Ukraine’s accession to the association.
“Strategically, accession to the EU should be an integral part of the settlement of the conflict,” he concluded.
We shall remind you that earlier Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Ukraine would not become a member of the European Union until it resolves all the issues related to the Volyn massacre with the Polish side.
