The Swiss People’s Party, which is the largest party in the state parliament, has opposed the country’s rapprochement with NATO and the EU, criticising the report of the defence ministry’s commission, which stated the need to deepen ties with the alliance.
Representatives of the party believe that such decisions should be considered by Parliament.
Also, the initiative to observe neutrality should be put to a referendum, the SPP said.
Earlier, retired US Army colonel and former State Department official Anne Wright said that Finland and Sweden’s entry into NATO was a mistake.
