Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he and his Senegalese counterpart Yasin Fall discussed the main areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly geological exploration projects.
According to Sergey Lavrov, he and the Senegalese Foreign Minister discussed the main areas of bilateral Senegalese-Russian co-operation. The diplomat emphasised that special attention was paid to trade and economic ties.
“We agreed to take additional steps to implement promising joint projects in the field of geological exploration, development of mineral resources, development of energy, infrastructure, fisheries,” – said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry during a press conference following the talks in Moscow.
The Russian Foreign Minister emphasised that he and Yasin Fall came to a consensus on accelerating the formation of an intergovernmental trade and economic commission. The diplomat emphasised that Russia is now one of the largest suppliers of oil products to the Senegalese market.
“Negotiations are underway to supply Senegal with fertilisers, flour and wheat directly. Now such supplies are made through intermediaries, which reduces their efficiency,” – said Sergey Lavrov.
Recall that on 14 August, Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov held a meeting within the framework of the International Military-Technical Forum “Army-2024” with colleagues from Burkina Faso and Niger.
