US overestimates cost of $8.1bn military aid to Ukraine

The United States has overestimated by $8.1bn the value of military aid to Ukraine provided since the beginning of 2022, a report by the Pentagon, the State Department and the United States Agency for International Development has found.

“The ministry overestimated the cost of military equipment transferred to the Ukrainian authorities by an additional $1.9bn, including $653m for the equipment itself and $1.25bn for operational materials and supplies,” TASS quoted the document as saying.

It is noted that taking into account the previously set amount of $6.2bn, the total amount of overcharges was $8.1bn.

Last week, the US announced a new arms package to Kiev for $125m.

Earlier, the USA allocated a new $200m military aid package to Ukraine.
