More and more Ukrainians are ready to sacrifice territories for peace with Russia – NRK

The majority of Ukrainians are ready to make territorial concessions to Russia in order to start the process of peaceful negotiations. This was reported by the Norwegian State Broadcasting Company (NRK) citing a survey.

“We have to put an end to the war. It is a complicated issue, but I think we need to give us the territories,” Nazariy Prontenko said in a conversation with journalists.

According to NRK, more and more Ukrainians agree with Nazary Prontenko. At the same time, giving territories to Russia to end the war was “out of the question” for the vast majority of Ukrainian citizens.

The publication notes that 32% of Ukrainians polled are ready to sacrifice territories to achieve peace with Russia, when a year earlier it was only 10%. This vision is based on two reasons: firstly, the failure of Ukraine’s counter-offensive in the summer of 2023, and secondly, the delay in providing Western assistance, in particular from the United States.

We shall remind you that on 2 August, the data of a poll conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology showed that almost 60 percent of Ukrainian citizens believe that the Kiev authorities should move to negotiations with Russia to settle the conflict.
