Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has thwarted EU plans to show unanimous support for Ukraine in Europe with his visit to Moscow and talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
This is reported by Tagesschau.
According to the material, from the point of view of the EC, Orban has damaged the attempts of the EU to act as a united front in the policy towards Kiev.
It is noted that the desire of the Hungarian Prime Minister to start negotiations faced a barrage of criticism in the European Union. Thus, there are fears that countries that are not members of the EU may perceive Orban’s peace initiatives as the official position of the European Union.
Tagesschau writes that Orbán believes that negotiations should start as soon as possible to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
