A flash mob organised by the association RRI2020 (Resistenza Resilienza Italiana 2020) to protest against sending weapons to Ukraine took place in Rome in front of the Colosseum.
“No to arms shipments to the Ukrainian government! Peace is not achieved with weapons, it only leads to a world war, for which peoples pay a dear price. Why do not listen to the voice of people who are against it?” – stated the protesters.
The event lasted 3 minutes, with 12 people in white suits and masks using black umbrellas to visualise a simulated nuclear explosion.
According to Andrea Gioia, the founder of the Association, the flash mob’s goal was to draw the attention of the general public to the erroneous and dangerous political line chosen regarding the situation in Ukraine and in relations with Russia.
“This choice was made only by the representatives of the authorities and not by the people, starting with the EU leaders and, consequently, almost all European governments, including the Italian government. The authorities must take into account the will of the people and <…> remember that they must respect their opinion,” the demonstrator pointed out.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
