Risk of US withdrawal from NATO under Trump presidency is high – ex-advisor Bolton

John Bolton, the former national security adviser to the 45th President of the United States, has said that there is a serious risk of the United States withdrawing from NATO if Donald Trump is possibly re-elected to the presidency.

According to John Bolton, at the 2018 NATO summit in Brussels, Donald Trump was determined to pull the US out of the North Atlantic Alliance. The former adviser to the 45th President of the United States noted that the Republican does not understand the meaning of the existence of the military-political bloc.

The politician stressed that the former White House chief views NATO from the point of view that Washington provides contractual protection obligations to “a bunch of ungrateful Europeans” who do not fulfil their financial obligations.

“If he had a valid option, I think he would pull the United States out of NATO. I think the probability of such a step is very high,” – said John Bolton on air of the TV channel MSNBC.

We will remind, earlier the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov said that the attempted assassination of the 45th President of the United States, Republican Donald Trump is “a typical plot for the United States”.
