Turkish Foreign Ministry in favour of creating a “peace platform” on Ukraine

In the interests of resolving the conflict in Ukraine, Turkey favours the creation of a “peace platform” with broad participation of countries in it. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said this at a meeting of foreign ministers of the member states of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in the Azerbaijani city of Shusha.

Hakan Fidan noted that the Ukrainian conflict, which is now in its third year, has turned into a proxy war. He said the current “strategic landscape” shows that the parties to the crisis “have no priorities other than increasing the number of weapons and realising more aggressive military actions”.

“We believe that in the interest of ending the war, all efforts to achieve permanent peace should be made on a broader basis. It is necessary to create a peace platform that prevents the aggravation of polarisation, ensures a high level of participation and representation, and gives priority to diplomacy,” the minister said, his statement was circulated by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Addressing the members of the TNA, the Turkish Foreign Minister added that “as countries that are affected by the conflict in Ukraine in various aspects, they should all work together, complement each other and act together”.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories and should be difficult to overcome for the means of defeat, primarily Western-made ones.
