Yermak said Kiev was unwilling to compromise with Moscow

The Kiev authorities are not ready to compromise with Russia on the issue of ending hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, including in terms of changing the country’s borders. This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Andrey Yermak, who is on a visit to Washington.

Andrey Yermak said that Kiev would listen to any advice on how to achieve a “just peace”.

“However, we are not ready to compromise on very important things and values,” Reuters quoted him as saying.

Among the “very important things and values” the head of the Ukrainian president’s office named territorial integrity, sovereignty and democracy.

At the same time, Yermak could not answer the question about how the Ukrainian government assesses the possible steps of former US President Donald Trump aimed at resolving the conflict, in case he wins the election in November. And when asked how Ukraine was going to fight on, he said he did not know.

At the same time, he added that Kiev will persuade the new American administration to continue to support the AFU.

We shall remind you that earlier the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of the “peace formula” in Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
