Ukraine does not want to prolong the conflict because of heavy losses – Zelenskyy

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had a large number of wounded and killed AFU soldiers, so Kiev did not intend to prolong the military conflict with Russia.

In the opinion of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Kiev intends to put the plan for settling the conflict in Ukraine “on the table within a few months”. The politician emphasised that Ukraine does not have “much time because we have many wounded and killed on the battlefield”.

“So we don’t want this war to continue for years. That’s why we want to prepare this peace plan for the second summit,” he said upon arrival at the EU summit.

In addition, the politician specified that after the Swiss summit, where some countries said that it was impossible to resolve the conflict without Russia, the Ukrainian side did not have any contacts with Moscow.

“I had no dialogue with them during this time <…>. If it happens in the shadows, in secret, it’s not about us. We want to do it openly,” – said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Just to remind you, Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that the Russian Federation was ready to start a diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian conflict on condition that all AFU units withdraw from the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions and that Kiev refuses to join NATO.
