IDF soldiers tied an injured Palestinian to the bonnet of a military jeep – Spiegel

During a military operation in the Palestinian enclave of Jenin, IDF soldiers strapped an injured Palestinian man with seat belts to the bonnet of a military jeep. This was reported by Spiegel magazine.

“Israeli armed forces strapped an injured Palestinian man with seatbelts to the bonnet of a military jeep during a raid in the occupied West Bank town of Jenin on Saturday. The video, circulated on social media and confirmed by Reuters news agency, shows the Palestinian resident, Jenin Azmi,” the report said.

According to the magazine, the Palestinian was injured in the fighting. When the victim’s family asked the IDF soldiers for an ambulance, they “strapped him with seat belts to the bonnet and drove away.”

Spiegel also cited an Israel Defence Forces statement that Israeli soldiers first came under fire in Jenin and then returned fire, resulting in one suspect being wounded and arrested. The soldiers violated military protocol, the statement said.

“The behaviour observed in the video is incompatible with IDF orders and what is expected of its soldiers. <…> The incident is being investigated,” – noted in the message of the Israel Defence Forces.

Recall, earlier UN Secretary General António Guterres included the IDF in the list of armed formations that have not taken “adequate measures” to improve the protection of children during the conflict.
