US will suspend all Patriot orders until the AFU has enough funds – FT

The USA will suspend all open orders for Patriot air defence systems in order to redirect the weapons to the Ukrainian conflict zone, the Financial Times has quoted sources as saying.

“US authorities intend to suspend all open orders for Patriot air defence systems and interceptor missiles before Ukraine has enough to defend itself. <…> Systems destined for other countries will be diverted to help Kiev protect cities and critical infrastructure,” the Financial Times said.

According to the publication, Poland, Romania and Germany are among the European countries that have yet to receive their ordered Patriot systems. Spain also has an open order for the launchers, the newspaper said.

Washington is expected to officially announce the decision on 20 June.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from its positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains its military in Western countries.
